Tools Used for Gardening

Did you know that it is estimated that over fourteen billion pounds of garbage are dumped into the ocean each year? Yes, you read that astounding figure right. Fourteen billion pounds, and most of it is plastic that takes generations to degrade and disappear. While it stays in the ocean it pollutes the water and can kill sea birds and fish. So, if you are wondering what are the causes of water pollution, there you have an answer. It is mostly due to human activity, sadly.

However, despite this dismal statistic and outlook into the future of humanity, there are some small things that we can do every day to improve or amend our environmental wrong doings. To begin with, obviously, stop generating so many residues, particularly plastic. Cut back on disposables and start reusing and recycling. It seems harder than it needs to be, actually. In fact, all you need to do is cut back a little at a time and be conscientious about recycling. Remember, every little bit counts.

Another thing to try is gardening. Apart from its obvious environmental benefits, gardening can even serve a therapeutic purpose, since some gardening aficionados say it connects them to the earth and gives them a sense of accomplishment when plants begin to grow and fruits or vegetables are ready to be picked. All you need is a little bit of time and some basic tools used for gardening, even if you do not have a large space for a big garden.
